Whole Produce Weight Variance Policy
Whole Produce Weight Policy
At Alchemy Farms, we sell many items such as pumpkins, watermelons, cantaloupes, and squash by weight. Because these fruits and vegetables grow naturally, no two are ever exactly the same size or shape. To ensure fairness and transparency, we use a Weight Variance Policy that allows a small difference in weight when selling whole produce. This approach maintains freshness while ensuring you receive excellent value.
Our Promise
All whole produce sold by the pound will fall within a 10 percent weight range — either slightly below or slightly above the advertised weight. This means you will never be overcharged if the item is heavier than listed, and you will never be shortchanged if it is slightly lighter. We always aim to provide the closest match possible.
How It Works
Example 1 – Underweight Item
You order a 10 lb watermelon. The one available weighs 9 lb, which is 10 percent less than listed. This falls within our policy range. We will deliver it as is and charge the regular 10 lb price. We do not cut the watermelon because doing so would affect freshness and quality.
Example 2 – Overweight Item
You order a 10 lb pumpkin, but the best match weighs 11 lb, which is 10 percent over the listed weight. We will give you the full pumpkin at no extra cost. You receive a little extra at our expense because we value your trust and satisfaction.
Example 3 – Beyond 10 Percent
You order a 10 lb cantaloupe, but the smallest available one weighs 13 lb. In this case, we will contact you before completing your order. You may choose to accept the larger one at an adjusted price, select another item, or request a refund or substitution. We will never make this decision without your approval.
Multiple Items
When you order multiple items, such as three 10 lb pumpkins, we make sure the total weight stays within the acceptable range. If the total weight falls between 27 lb and 33 lb, it is within our 10 percent allowance. If it is outside that range, we will adjust the order or include an additional item to make it fair.
We Do Not Cut Whole Produce
To preserve freshness and shelf life, we do not cut pumpkins, melons, or other large produce to meet an exact weight. Cutting speeds up spoilage, and we believe our customers deserve produce that lasts longer and tastes better.
Fairness and Accuracy
All produce is weighed using calibrated legal-for-trade scales. Actual weights are recorded during packing. For online or delivery orders, the invoice may include the actual item weight for your reference. Our website and in-store signage clearly state that all whole produce is sold by approximate weight and may vary by up to 10 percent.
Delivery and Pickup
For pickup orders, our team will inform you if any item is slightly over or under weight. For delivery orders, we label the produce with its approximate weight and include invoice details. If an item falls outside the expected range, we will contact you before delivery. There are no hidden charges or surprises.
If You Are Not Satisfied
If you believe an item you received was outside the expected range or not of fair value, please contact us. We will review your order and, if necessary, offer a replacement, store credit, or refund. Your satisfaction is our priority.
